How to Capture High-Quality Bin Images with Auto Capture
Hectre's AI-powered Auto Capture feature ensures accurate fruit size and color estimation by automatically taking photos when the ideal angle and position are detected. This eliminates the need for manual judgment and improves accuracy. Follow these simple steps for the best results.
Steps to Capture an Image
- Open the Image Capture screen in Hectre Perform or Spectre.
Ensure 'Automatic Mode' is selected.
In app screenshot with Automatic Mode selected - Hold your mobile device above your head in landscape orientation.
- Position the camera so that all four corners of the bin are visible.
- When the correct angle and position are achieved, your device will vibrate to confirm an image has been captured automatically.
- Submit the image as part of the Perform Bin or Spectre Group.
Best Practices for High-Quality Images
To ensure the best accuracy and sample rate, follow these guidelines:
✅ All four bin corners must be visible.
✅ Hold the camera in landscape orientation.
✅ Maintain a high angle, at least 45 degrees.
✅ Center the bin in the frame.
Additional Guidelines for Best Results
- Ensure contrast between the bin and the background.
- If the bin color is too similar to the background, edges may not be well detected.
- High-contrast backgrounds improve auto-capture speed and accuracy.
- If feasible, painting the loading bay in a contrasting color can help.
- Avoid backgrounds with excessive lines or patterns.
- Cobblestone, grid-like concrete patterns, or printed bin images may cause false detections.
- Opt for cleaner, less structured backgrounds for better accuracy.
By following these steps and guidelines, you can ensure efficient and accurate image capture, improving fruit size and color estimations for optimal decision-making.
